Children with cleft lip or palate now find a calming and child-friendly atmosphere at the Oxford Children's Hospital. The Regine Sixt Children's Aid Foundation DRYING LITTLE TEARS financed innovative wall paintings for the Spires Cleft Centre, one of only nine highly specialized facilities in England for these special medical needs.
The new wall design is far more than just decoration: it has a psychologically calming effect on young patients, contains numerous vocabulary words for testing speech abilities, and even features a tooth fairy for orthodontics. At the same time, the painting is antimicrobial and particularly durable – ideal for clinical daily life. The equipment was complemented by a round play table that offers children additional activities.
"When my daughter Cayley was born with a cleft palate, I experienced firsthand the deep comfort that the Spires Cleft Centre gives to families," reports Mary Wong, Executive Assistant. "The donation from the Regine Sixt Children's Aid Foundation DRYING LITTLE TEARS has transformed this care into something visible – a nature-inspired oasis that brings calm and wonder to the little ones who need it most."
