The Regine Sixt Children's Aid Foundation DRYING LITTLE TEARS has supported the establishment of a special bed space in the modernized pediatric intensive care unit at St. Franziskus Hospital GmbH in Münster. The new treatment space in a two-bed intensive care room has been specifically equipped for so-called kangaroo care – a particularly important therapy for premature and newborn babies.
The complete equipment includes a special kangaroo chair, furniture, folding wall, heat lamp and media supply rail. This setup enables close physical contact between parents and their little patients during intensive medical treatment. This skin contact demonstrably strengthens bonding development and significantly supports the children's recovery.
The St. Franziskus-Hospital Münster is specialized in caring for premature, multiple and high-risk births as a certified Level I perinatal center. With the new equipment, even more small patients can now receive optimal care.
