Sensory Development for Little Explorers in Rostock

With special sensory materials, the Regine Sixt Children's Aid Foundation DRYING LITTLE TEARS supports the German Red Cross in training children aged zero to seven years in their perception and developing their abilities. The DRK Rostock Lebensperspektive gGmbH implemented a "Festival of the Senses" as well as accompanying project weeks for early childhood sensory development with the funded equipment.

For the project, materials such as water columns, musical instruments, movement courses, and sensory boxes were specifically purchased to address all five areas of perception: hearing, smelling, tasting, feeling, and seeing.

During special activity weeks, children could playfully discover and train their senses. The barrier-free summer festival additionally enabled shared experiences for the whole family. Through targeted sensory development, children strengthen their self-perception and self-efficacy, while simultaneously strengthening the parent-child bond and promoting social participation of families.
