Thanks to funding from the Regine Sixt Children's Aid Foundation DRYING LITTLE TEARS, children in the residential group of Diakonie Rostocker Stadtmission e.V. can now gather creative cooking experiences in a new kitchen that strengthen bonds and teach important life skills. The Diakonie Rostocker Stadtmission e.V. supports children, adults and families in various life situations and offers, among other things, assistance for children who temporarily or permanently cannot live with their parents.
The residential group with intensive family work either accompanies children back to their families or develops long-term solutions for their future. The old kitchen was no longer functional – insufficient storage space, broken doors and lack of work surfaces prevented joint activities. The new, child-friendly kitchen now creates an inviting meeting place that enables cooking activities for children and parents.
Here children playfully discover the joy of cooking together and learn the conscious handling of food. The safe equipment immediately sparks curiosity and creates positive experiences that strengthen the sense of community and lay important foundations for healthy nutrition. In this way, cooking becomes a valuable educational tool that strengthens bonds and teaches children practical skills for their later lives.
