Just in time for the start of the new school year, SIXT Latvia, SIXT Lithuania, SIXT Estonia and SIXT Finland donated over 700 school bags and stationery kits to children in four rural schools in the Cherkasy region of Ukraine. The annual campaign "School Bags for Ukrainian Children" was initiated and coordinated by Jānis Putniņš, the head of SIXT Baltics.

Funded by donations from businesses and private individuals in Latvia, each kit worth EUR 35 includes not only school supplies but also a food box and sweets. Many of the children who received the gifts come from families that have been forced to flee occupied territories, or have parents currently serving at the front. As more than 4,000 educational institutions in Ukraine have been damaged or destroyed since 2022, every contribution towards the education of these children is especially meaningful. With the school bags, the children receive not only practical support for their everyday school life, but also a powerful message of solidarity: they have not been forgotten.
